Formally these are an exploration of layers of laminated timber and the challenges of moulding this wafer fine material to my ideas. Pressed, folded, twisted and stretched, the timber is in tension and communion with the gravity and simplicity of the ceramic circles, a universal symbol of life and death, that accompany them.

Shedding Series continues my fascination with the process of peeling back the layers. There is a poetic resonance to these forms that belies the pain of loss and grief, the grieving body, the irrevocable sense of mortality which of course comes to all of us.
